The Human

Tell me your story. My story usually starts with a stick figure standing with a bag strapped to the back, mountains in the backdrop, and a bright sun shining. The figure is walking, looking down, with the sound of the grains of the mud crunching under the human’s foot. It hasn’t rained today, and the sky is clear with no wind. Suddenly, there’s a sound and the human is interrupted from a trail of thoughts. It sounded like a distant cry of a bird, probably fighting a predator. The walk of life is endless, for everyone, thought the Human and continued.
This time seemed like the only time for reflection and thought. What is it that troubles the mind so much? Is it ignorance of the present or the bleakness of the future that scares me? Is it just me or everyone in the world? The conundrum, is it a problem worth solving? Do I really want the solution? Am I ready for the solution? The Human sighed, stopped, and looked at the river. The sunlight danced on the clear waters making it look like glass. Why is everything simple, yet deceptive? Maybe that’s how things are at the first glance, simple. If we just waited long enough we would see the mud settle down and the water clearing, returning to its actual state.
Crossing the river was something the Human did every day. Not stopping, not thinking. It was a routine. The journey would end soon, but the conundrum would linger. There was still time at hand, the Human thought. Some time to live and some to think. The sky was still a pale blue with white clouds forming shapes unknown. The grinding dust had changed to a clinging mud from crossing the river. It clung to the Human’s body, did not bother much but was just there, a coat on the skin. Do we really notice all the things of the past clinging to us like dead weight, slowing us down, weighing us down, inch by inch? Do we notice? The Human stopped, looked up. The journey had come to an end. It was time to bid goodbye to the mind working like clockwork. It was time to solve the problem…
